At Gesshoji Temple, a hanging scroll handwritten by Matsudaira Fumai will be specially displayed in the tea ceremony room for a limited time from July 13th (Monday) to August 16th (Sunday)

Matsudaira Fumai was the seventh lord of the Matsue Domain and was also famous as a daimyo and tea master. He is also known as the lord who erected the giant turtle statue that appeared in the manga "Bakebake" to pray for his father's health and longevity

What we will be looking at today is a calligraphy piece by Fumai-ko that reads "Zhang Gong drinks alcohol and Li Gong gets drunk." It's a strange phrase, meaning that Zhang drinks alcohol and Li gets drunk, but it's a Zen saying that conveys a state of mind that transcends the idea of ​​separating oneself from others. Especially in these times of constant conflict and discrimination, it makes us reconsider the importance of not separating ourselves from others and of caring for one another
